Modafinil Weight Loss: Does the Smart Drug Help You Burn Fat?
Is there such a thing as Modafinil weight loss? Will the pounds start falling off if you use smart drugs?
Well, I have some good news and some bad news. Yes, Modafinil may cause you to lose weight. But there’s one small issue. It may not be the kind of weight you want to lose.
Modafinil suppresses your appetite. When you’re on the nootropic, there’s a good chance you won’t feel hungry. Thus, most Modafinil users enter a caloric deficit when using the smart drug.
The issue is your muscles may become malnourished, as well. After a day on Modafinil, my body feels soft and my muscles feel weak.

My abs show and I definitely feel like I lost a little water weight while on Modafinil, but my muscles also seem to lose a little size when I’m constantly using smart drugs.
It’s a trade-off, and smart drug users will have to decide if the Modafinil weight loss is beneficial or not.

What is Modafinil?
Before we talk about Modafinil and weight loss, let’s talk a little more about this potent smart drug.
So, here’s how I describe Modafinil:
It’s a drug. A nootropic. A smart drug to be exact.
From a medical definition standpoint, Modafinil is an oral drug created to promote wakefulness in patients with excessive sleepiness or shift work sleep disorder. Modafinil increases focus by stimulating the brain. Exactly how Modafinil stimulates the brain is unknown.
For all intents and purposes of this article, Modafinil is a smart drug used to increase productivity and focus. Classified as a nootropic, Internet marketers have been raving about the pill for years now. Yeah, the guys who bring in tens of thousands of dollars a day use Modafinil all the time. Modafinil For Weight Loss: The Science
According to a few studies, Modafinil weight loss can be real. The effects of Modafinil seem to have some benefit in burning fat and overall weight loss.
One study claims, “Modafinil may be well suited for the treatment of obesity, although further studies with repeated dosing in overweight populations are warranted.” (Source)
When other researchers studied the effects of Modafinil on depression, they noted that many overweight patients were able to shed some pounds while consuming the smart drug. (Source)
But why does it work?
Well, there’s still some debate there. Basically, Modafinil affects dopamine levels in the brain. The smart drug increases dopamine, the “feel-good” chemical in the brain.
As such, when you take the smart drug, you don’t feel hunger for long periods of time. You have no need to eat – from a mental standpoint.
Thus, Modafinil suppresses the appetite. Many users enter caloric deficit because they won’t eat for 8-12 hours while taking the nootropic.
Fasting for 8-12 waking hours is a huge benefit for individuals looking to lose some pounds. For many smart drug users, the Modafinil weight loss can be solely attributed to this factor.
There is another effect of Modafinil that may aid weight loss. Modafinil users find more energy and focus while on the drug.
As such, they are more active when using smart drugs. When someone takes Modafinil, they don’t sit on the couch all day. They are out getting things done.
More activity and movement will always lead to weight loss if extra calories are avoided.
Modafinil and Weight Loss: Should You Try It?
While Modafinil for weight loss may have some benefits, I’m not sure I’d recommend it.
Ideally, you’re only using smart drugs 1-3 days a week. If you take Modafinil every day, you’ll probably lose some weight, but it won’t be ideal for your overall health.
