The Ideal Piracetam Dosage: What You Need To Know

This guest post about the ideal Piracetam dosage was created by Cain, a recent university graduate, and avid smart drug user.

Finding the ideal Piracetam dosage isn’t too difficult. You just have to remember one thing – too much of anything isn’t necessarily a good thing.

Well, that’s not quite true. It might be for food, alcohol and everybody’s favorite bedroom activity.

But is it true for the strange, nerdy cousin of supplements called Nootropics?

For those of you unaware, nootropics are not a part of the tropics you haven’t visited yet. They are the class of drugs which deal with specific cognitive effects.

They run the gamut from mood-boosting to enhancing focus to increasing creativity!

Sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not. Among self-improvement enthusiasts, there are many all-stars. One stands out as a tired and true staple.

It’s known as Piracetam, and it was the first nootropic ever synthesized. That means that it ushered in the era of other nootropics which followed it.

P.S: This isn’t medical advice. This article is for entertainment purposes. Always consult a medical professional before consuming any supplement.

Piracetam Dosage: What is It?

Piracetam primarily improves memory retention. Specifically, it alters the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine, which allows for greater activity in the part of the brain that consolidates memories.

So, what does that mean for you, the average ordinary everyday guy or gal who wants to kick more ass and get more out of life?

It means that Piracetam is a relatively safe, easy-to-use supplement that you should consider adding to your repertoire.

But there’s one issue that’s just as important here as with any other drug or supplement. What’s the ideal piracetam dosage?

Or at the very least, how much would either be useless or get me into serious trouble?

The mind on Piracetam.

How to Find the Ideal Piracetam Dosage

The answer is both a pro and a con.

You see, there’s not truly one “right,” amount to take for maximum effectiveness. Piracetam has an extremely wide range of what’s considered an effective dosage.

It doesn’t work quite like many other nootropics where there’s a very fine line between amazing performance and nightmarish skittishness.

Do a quick google search on taking too much Modafinil or Phenibut if you don’t believe me.

The official range is anywhere from 1.2-9.6 grams depending on where you get your information (Source).

Some sources will say you must have an “attack dosage,” to ensure you get the most solid benefits. The argument being that your body has to get a higher amount upfront so the brain can maximally utilize it.

In my experience, this is not only completely unnecessary, but it’s also counterproductive. All you have to do is make sure that you get the effective dosage I’ll outline later.

It also depends on your desired effect. You get certain benefits from as little as a gram or so. At this level, you begin to get neuroprotective benefits.

At higher piracetam doses you start to get into the memory retention and learning effects.

There’s a sweet spot of about 4.8 grams twice a day that was determined by a study which analyzed older folks with Alzheimer’s (Source)

Turns out, the answer is sorta, kinda right there. But, there’s nothing wrong with starting on the lower end and working your way up slowly.

That’s still generally the best piece of advice.

Timing and Safety

Fortunately, piracetam is relatively harmless and doesn’t come with deadly side effects if inappropriately dosed.

The worst effects reported are minor headaches and stomach cramps.Occasionally people report irritability or nervousness, but this is rare.

Now, you might be wondering, “But how should I take this stuff?”

Not a simple answer here, but the consensus from folks much brighter than me seems to be 2.4-4.8 grams three times a day.

If you only need basic neuroprotective effects then you can stick to lighter piracetam dosing.

But the 2.4-4.8 grams comes from the studies which analyze what Piracetam dosages and timings seemed to have the most potent effect.

If you want to have a mind like a steel trap, you need to go big or go home. This is for the entrepreneurs, hustlers, go-getters and all-around ass kickers that want the maximum cognitive improvements.

The most typical timing is three times a day, so that’s about 4ish grams each time. I’ve done two dosings of about 5 grams at the start and end of the day myself.

This works fine too. You still get a nice shadow that covers you for the entire day this way. Doing it like this, you automatically hit somewhere around the 10-gram area.

To many people that’s mega-dosing. It’s not. It explains why many people simply don’t feel the effects from Piracetam.

So before you go complaining that it doesn’t work, make sure you’re taking an appropriate amount.

Piracetam Dangers, Tolerance and Other Concerns

One cool side effect of Piracetam is that it’s an adaptogen, so it gets BETTER with time.

Boy, wouldn’t it be nice if everything worked like that, huh?

Personally, I can’t say it feels as if it works better, but it doesn’t seem to diminish in efficacy. That’s nice because it removes the pesky problem of the tolerance buildup most potent compounds have.

You can keep you Piracetam dosage constant. And you can use it for long periods of consecutive days or weeks without issues.

There’s also no clear line where you run into huge issues. You can go much higher than the 10 grams often discussed.

In fact, some people report going as high up as 20 grams and report greater benefits! I’m not about to advise that, but it’s cool to know it’s hard to get in trouble with this stuff.

Word of caution: There’s still such a thing as a psychological tolerance buildup. With something such as Piracetam, that isn’t as big a deal.

But you still might want to consider cycling on and off Piracetam anyway. I know it’s tempting to want to always be “on,” but I’d advise against it.

But between you and me, I don’t like being completely dependent on any substance to perform day to day.

Here’s an intuitive way to do it. Simply cycle 4-6 weeks on Piracetam daily or near daily.

Then have 4-6 weeks off it. That works well with most entrepreneurial types who lives have natural ebbs and flows anyway.

If you need to kick major ass then yeah, you want a lot of weapons in your arsenal. If you’re in more of a reflective, rebuilding or recuperating period? Then, you probably don’t need it.

Alternatively, you can do one powerful nootropic such as Phenibut or Modafinil for a period of time, and then alternate that with piracetam.

It’s up to you. The only thing that’s important to remember is that complete mental dependency is not a good look.

Piracetam Dosage: Overall

As you can see, the correct piracetam dosage is relatively easy to determine. It only seems daunting and scary on the surface, because there’s conflicting information out there.

But it’s simple really. If you want the full intended effects of memory retention, then you gotta get A LOT more than most of you probably thought you needed.

Don’t mess around with that wimpy 1-3 gram stuff. No, you need upwards of 10 big g’s to get the job done with Piracetam.

4-5 grams seems to be ideal one or two times a day.

And don’t forget that going above that doesn’t carry much risk either. So go for the gusto, and up the dosage.

Just don’t forget to thank me later. With the Piracetam, you won’t have that problem anyway.
