So if you’re taking Modafinil for the first couple times and it’s not working, what do you do?
The reality of the situation is Modafinil doesn’t work for some people. That’s true for any prescription drug. Some people just don’t respond to it.
However, I’d venture to say that 98-99% will respond to Modafinil. While that’s certainly not scientific, I’ve yet to hear of anyone who just couldn’t feel Modafinil when taken and dosed properly.
If you don’t feel anything, there are a few things you can do before you give up on the nootropic.
One thing to note: Individuals with IQ levels above 130 have reported struggling to feel the effects of Modafinil. Aka if you’re a genius, Modafinil may not offer many benefits to you. Although other highly intelligent people rave about the drug.
First and foremost, if you truly believe you’re non-responsive to Modafinil, you can run a little test. Get seven hours of sleep, then wake up early.
Immediately take 200 mg of Modafinil with a small glass of water. Don’t drink anything else. Don’t eat any food. Don’t turn on the lights. Don’t make an attempt to wake up.
Go back to sleep right away after taking the pill. Note the time you fall back asleep as accurately as possible.
If you don’t wake up within 1-2 hours, then you may be non-responsive to Modafinil. This is the best test I’ve seen to find out if you respond to the smart drug or not.
One thing to note: Make sure to only do this test after you’ve taken Modafinil three other times. If you try this test your first time taking the smart drug, you may not respond instantly.
Make Modafinil Work For You
Now, if you think you’re responsive to the drug, but something isn’t working properly, you can test out a few things:
Up the Dose: A typically Modafinil dose is 200 mg. If you’re only taking 100 mg or less, you may not feel much. If 200 mg isn’t working, you can try out 300 mg. This is especially true if you’re a larger person.
Split the Dose: Another trick is to split 300 mg of Modafinil into one 200 mg dose and one 100 mg dose. This can help boost the effects of Modafinil.
Don’t Wait: Don’t wait for the Modafinil to “kick” in. Take the smart drug and get to work. Often, I don’t feel Modafinil until I look at the clock and realize I’ve been working without breaks for 4-5 hours.
Combine With Coffee: Take 200 mg of Modafinil and then down a few cups of coffee. Caffeine mixes well with smart drugs and can help the nootropic’s effects kick in quicker.
The Next Level: If you’re committed to feeling something no matter what, you can chew on these after taking Modafinil. You’ll definitely feel something. I guarantee it. This isn’t for the faint of heart.
Modafinil Not Working For Long-Term User
If Modafinil has worked for you in the past, then you’re responsive to the drug. That’s good news.
If you’ve taken the smart drug too much, you may have found your tolerance levels all messed up. Luckily, that’s an easier fix.
If your Modafinil tolerance levels are out of whack, here are a few things to do:
Stop taking Modafinil for one week to one month.
Cut back on Modafinil. Only take the smart drug 1-3 times a week.
Only take 200-300 mg of Modafinil. Some users take 400-500 mg, but that’s just too much for most of us.
