    Airport in Spanish

Ready? The Spanish word is aeropuerto. Say it like: ah-eh-roo-pwehr-toh. Every Spanish country uses this word. Same word everywhere!

It’s a masculine word. So you say “el aeropuerto” for “the airport.”

    Look at these:
    • El aeropuerto está lejos. (The airport is far.)
    • We got to el aeropuerto early. (We came to the airport early.)
    • Big aeropuertos have lots of food places. (Big airports have many restaurants.)

Need more than one airport? Just say “los aeropuertos.” Add an “s” at the end.

    How to Talk About It

    How to Talk About It

Want to describe an airport? Use simple words. Put them after “aeropuerto.” Like this:

    • Aeropuerto internacional = world airport (flies to other countries)
      • Aeropuerto nacional = home airport (flies inside the country)
      • Aeropuerto pequeño = small airport
      • Aeropuerto grande = big airport
      • Aeropuerto moderno = new airport

    Try these:
    • Madrid has a huge aeropuerto internacional. (Madrid’s world airport is really big.)
    • Our town has un aeropuerto pequeño. (We have a tiny airport.)
    • The new aeropuerto has many shops. (The modern airport has lots of stores.)

Just change the word after. Easy!

    What You’ll Hear

They make announcements. In Spanish too! Listen for:

    • Flight to Barcelona? Ready to board! (El vuelo está listo.)
      • Go to gate seven please. (Vayan a la puerta siete.)
      • Flight canceled. Sorry! (Vuelo cancelado.)
      • Flight is late. (Llega con retraso.)

Hear these? You’ll know what’s up!

    Tips for Spanish Airports

Want to travel easily? Do this:

Learn main words first. Like vuelo, equipaje and embarque.

Listen hard. Spanish can be fast. Focus on numbers. And city names.

Read the signs. Look for salidas (leaving). And llegadas (coming).

Be nice. Say por favor (please). Say gracias (thanks).

    Fun Facts

Aeropuerto has two parts. “Aero” means air. “Puerto” means port. So it’s like an air port! Where planes come and go. Just like boats at a sea port. Cool, right?

So now you know aeropuerto! That’s an airport in Spanish. Super useful for trips. You can ask for stuff. Check your flight. Talk to people. All in Spanish!

Practice every day. The more you use them? The better you get.

Next trip, listen for “aeropuerto.” You’ll hear it lots! Soon, you’ll feel ready. Ready to travel anywhere.
