Colombian Citizens: Warm, Friendly, and Full of Life

Warm, friendly, and festive, all Colombians are. Regardless of whether you are in the city, Bogotá, or a hill town. You can count on the people to receive you warmly, hospitably, and with a willingness to share their culture with you.

More about Colombian lifestyle, religion, and what they are like and doing if you actually do get an opportunity to get to meet them.

Friendly and Welcoming

You’ll notice how friendly they are. It’s common there for strangers to smile at you, say hello, or start a conversation. They love to talk and make new friends. They often treat visitors like family also.

If you find yourself lost and in need of instructions on how to continue, or simply need assistance, then most Colombians will direct you. They may not speak a lot of English, but they will try to make sense of what is going on and will do their best to help. The highlight of a Colombian vacation, in the opinion of most travelers, is the people.

Family Comes First

Family is assigned a very high priority in Colombia. They take utmost care of their parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Sunday lunch, birthdays, and large family gatherings are quite common. They are spoiled and taken good care of. They are treated with very high respect by the elderly as well.

Families also spend enormous amounts of time as a family in restaurants, parks, or on special occasions. Colombians enjoy living with their families and are satisfied with life.

Full of Life and Happiness

Colombians are happy. They enjoy partying, dancing, and music. Wherever you go, there is bound to be some energetic music. Dancing is life, and children learn dancing at a very young age there.

Partiers from top to bottom, Colombians party huge when it does. They celebrate every day as if it were a holiday. Music, colors, and parades fill Carnaval de Barranquilla or Feria de las Flores in Medellin party streets.

Proud of Their Culture

Colombians have the luxury of wonderful national pride, heritage, and country. They love nature, language, music, cuisine, and even that they have the chance to enjoy sharing all of this with fellow human beings.

For example, if you are a visitor in a person’s home, he/she is going to offer you hot coffee or some Colombian snack, like arepas or buñuelos. They enjoy having visitors at home and sharing their way of life. And one of the Colombian ways of life.

Hard working and Optimistic

The majority of Colombians are working extremely hard to earn enough money to survive and live comfortably. They get up early in the morning to work in the office, shop, fields, or drive buses. Others sell fresh fruits or handicrafts on the street. Whatever it is that they are doing, they are doing it with pride.

While Colombia may have had their worst, Colombians are optimists. They’re moving in the right direction and doing it in good conscience. That’s what all the fans are saying about Colombians.

Different Regions, Different People

Colombia is a multicultural country. Mountain people, sea people, forest people, and city people look, sound when they speak, and act differently. But share that warm heart and pride being Colombian.

Like:

Sea people are party people and relaxed people.

Mountain people are shy, good mannered people and respectful.

Native people own their culture and own tongue.

All these multi-cultures create and enrich Colombia.

Why You Will Fall in Love with Colombian People

You will be head over heels in love with Colombians if ever you get the chance to travel to Colombia. Their energy, warmth, and hospitality linger long after you leave. Whether dancing at a carnival, drinking coffee with locals, or strolling down a lively town, Colombians make everything twinkle.
