Carved into rust-red sandstone in Morrison, Colorado: roughly ten miles southwest of Denver: Red Rocks Amphitheatre is the world’s only naturally formed, acoustically perfect outdoor music venue. It sits within 738 acres of park at 6,450 feet above sea level, a transitional zone where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains. The two flanking monoliths, Ship Rock and Creation Rock, were not sculpted by any architect: they took about 300 million years to form, which means the venue had a serious head start on every other concert hall on the planet.
Officially dedicated on June 15, 1941, Red Rocks has since hosted legends from The Beatles to U2: and its reputation has only compounded. In 2025, the venue welcomed more than 1.75 million attendees across 236 events, with Billboard ranking it second-most-attended venue in the U.S. behind Madison Square Garden. Now Red Rocks is celebrating its 85th operating season with a stacked calendar and two long-overdue infrastructure upgrades.

5 Must-See Events at Red Rocks in 2026
Season Opener: The Electronic Kickoff (March–April)
The 2026 season kicked off with Crankdat on March 27, followed immediately by a full slate of electronic and hip-hop acts running through April. April 20 brings Ice Cube with Big Boi of Outkast and Czarface: arguably the hardest-hitting single lineup of the spring. The altitude hits different when the bass does too.
Summer Headliners: Rock, Country, and Everything Else
The summer calendar includes O.A.R. with Gavin DeGraw on June 20, Train with Barenaked Ladies on August 17, and Nathaniel Rateliff paired with the Colorado Symphony on August 18. The Strokes are booked for July 22 and 23: two consecutive nights, which at a 9,525-seat venue means tickets move fast.
Reggae on the Rocks (August 22)
An annual institution. The 2026 edition features Rebelution, MAOLI, Skip Marley, Third World, Etana, and Judge Roughneck. Catch a sunset over Denver from the upper rows mid-set and you’ll understand why people fly in from three time zones away for this one.
Film on the Rocks + Yoga on the Rocks (Summer Series)
Beyond concerts, Red Rocks runs two beloved non-music series each summer. Yoga on the Rocks hosts Saturday-morning sessions from June through August, starting at sunrise: the kind of workout that feels justified regardless of the altitude. Film on the Rocks screens classic and contemporary movies with a local band opening each night, typically selling out weeks in advance. Both series are listed and ticketed at redrocksonline.com.
New for 2026: The East Terrace Debuts
The East Terrace was actually part of Burnham Hoyt’s original 1936 architectural plan: it just took 90 years to build. Designers are using the same flagstone and materials found throughout the rest of the venue so it blends seamlessly with the existing architecture. A new permanent merchandise stand is also opening this season, replacing the tent structure fans have endured for years.
What to Know Before You Go
A few things worth knowing for first-timers:
- Arrive at least 60–90 minutes early: parking lots fill fast and the walk from the lot to the seats takes longer than it looks on a map.
- Bring layers regardless of the forecast, because temperatures at 6,450 feet drop sharply after sunset even in July.
- Alcohol is sold on-site but outside food and non-alcoholic drinks in sealed containers are generally permitted.
- More than 40 percent of any given Red Rocks audience travels from out of town, so accommodation around Morrison and Denver books up quickly on show weekends.
Getting There from Denver
Red Rocks sits about 15 miles west of downtown Denver via US-40 through Golden into Morrison. The drive runs 25–40 minutes in normal conditions, though show nights add variable traffic. For groups or anyone who’d rather not spend a concert night navigating mountain roads and parking logistics, a reliable car service Denver to Red Rocks takes the friction out of the whole evening: door to door, no parking math required.
